How it was back then...

...an exciting tour!

We invite you on a fun, special tour of discovery. Starting in the historic center, on the Grande Place, we'll bring history to life for you – the reality and appearance of the Baroque era, past and present.

We stroll through the princely palace gardens to the bizarre Grande Fontaine, where His Serene Highness Margrave Christian Ernst loved to stroll. Traces of the court society reveal many astonishing, even delicate, objects – just as they were back then. The Bourdalou, or Vase du Jour, was a popular piece of porcelain among noble ladies.

You'll learn some amusing facts at the fascinating "Opera and Comedy House." How did the two gray pachyderms manage to get to the royal residence and university city? Why is our Stone Margrave unfinished, and what does a market woman have to do with poets and thinkers?
