Experience one of the region's most exciting infrastructure projects up close!
The replacement of the Kriegenbrunn Lock on the Main-Danube Canal. The Main-Danube Canal connects the North Sea and the Black Sea – and the Kriegenbrunn Lock plays a central role in this. It is one of the highest and one of 16 so-called economy locks on the Main-Danube Canal, which has been under construction since 2024 while shipping continues – a real challenge for technology and logistics.

A roughly one-kilometer-long path along the large interim soil storage area to the observation deck provides fascinating insights into the construction work. From there, you have a clear view of the construction site, modern construction machinery in operation, and the existing lock structure, which continues to allow ships to pass through.

In addition to interesting facts about the functioning of the lock system and the course of the Main-Danube Canal, you will also learn which environmental measures were already taken during the planning phase – because nature and water conservation also play a crucial role here.

Our guided tour will bring you closer to this complex project in a clear and understandable way – ideal for anyone who wants to experience technology, hydraulic engineering and regional development firsthand, even if they are not engineers!
