When the Ferris wheel is erected, the fifth season in Erlangen is approaching. Every year at Pentecost, what is arguably Bavaria's most beautiful folk festival attracts tens of thousands of people every day to the festival grounds in front of the former beer cellars. Our walk takes us from the breweries in the old town to the cellar houses on the hill.
And right here beats the heart of the Bergkirchweih festival today. Between the old cellars, under shady chestnut trees, the tradition lives on.
So: Keep your eyes open, listen to the stories – and maybe you'll even feel like a freshly tapped beer at the end.
