tortuuga

Since 2020, Carmen Padilla has been offering affordable design made from recycled raw materials in Obere Karlstraße. The name "Tortuuga," which she chose for her business, is the Spanish word for the turtle. Her product range includes original women's and men's clothing, as well as shoes, bags, backpacks, and accessories – all Fairtrade products. "Our focus is on brands from companies that produce consciously and sustainably," explains the business owner.
Exceptional: Here, sustainable raw materials, as well as plastic waste from our oceans, are reused to create winter jackets, sunglasses, and sneakers. Some of them are made from recycled plastic bottles pulled from the ocean by fishermen in Spain or Thailand. This provides the fishermen with an additional source of income, as they are paid not to dump this bycatch back into the sea.
The clothing is vegan, made from organic cotton or extra-fine wool, which ensures excellent body temperature regulation. The relatively new raw material "Tencel" is also used. This is a so-called "man-made cellulose fiber," meaning an industrially produced fiber made from natural raw materials. It is made from wood from sustainable forestry and is biodegradable.
