In the heart of Erlangen's Hüttendorf district, visitors will find a destination that uniquely combines shopping, nature, and family time. At the Huckepack self-harvesting field, fruit and vegetables aren't simply bought – here, you pick, harvest, and discover them yourself.
Depending on the season, numerous different types of fruit, vegetables, and herbs grow on the grounds. Strawberries, tomatoes, apples, or fresh herbs can be harvested directly from the field. This is a particularly exciting experience for families: children learn in a playful way how food grows and when it is ripe.
The Huckepack grounds also include a spacious natural playground with plenty of opportunities for running around and relaxing. A straw pyramid, a corn pool, a vintage tractor, and an animal enclosure with ducks, pygmy goats, and rabbits ensure that there's no chance of boredom even after the harvest. Barbecue areas and seating invite you to end the day together in nature.
In addition to open-air visits, Huckepack also offers guided tours, children's birthday parties, and seasonal events such as the popular Strawberry Festival. The concept is the brainchild of the Niedermann family, who have been farming and direct marketing their products in Erlangen for generations, placing great emphasis on regionality and an authentic nature experience.
