Great Carp Cycle Route: the road bike tour in the Aischgrund

Erlangen marks the eastern gateway to the Aischgrund Carp Country. The numerous ponds, created hundreds of years ago for carp farming, are a little insider tip for nature lovers. In the heart of this unique lake landscape lie many picturesque Franconian towns, where time seems to have stood still.

The tour starts at Erlangen train station and leads along the Regnitz to Möhrendorf. There you cross the Main-Danube Canal and follows a path through the forest to Dechsendorf. The Dechsendorfer Pond is a popular destination in the region and invites you to cool off in the summer. The tour continues to Adelsdorf, passing through typical Franconian villages along many small Carp pondsthat characterize the landscape. The country inns and beer cellars in the villages offer the opportunity to stop for a break. The route now turns towards Höchstadt: here, a short walk through the historic old town or a detour to the Höchstadt Kellerberg is worthwhile. legendary, regional mirror carp can be tasted from September onwards. The route continues through picturesque Franconian villages and past numerous carp ponds. Shortly before Erlangen in the district Kosbach There is the possibility to stop at a fish restaurant.
