In 2021, Germany's largest cycling event came to the Huguenot city: the Deutschland Tour. Professional road cyclists have already demonstrated their skills on this challenging stage from Erlangen through Franconian Switzerland to Nuremberg.
The starting point of the tour is the Schlossplatz in the heart of Erlangen. The 160 km long tour leads from Erlangen via Forchheim to Franconian Switzerland. There, the riders await 2000 meters in altitude in 13 climbs, which require a very good level of fitness. You will be rewarded with fantastic views into the "Franconian region." Once the strenuous part of the stage is over, the tour to Nuremberg becomes flat again. Arrived at Nuremberg Airport it goes through the Garlic Land back to Erlangen. The finish of this final stage of the Deutschland Tour 2021 was in front of the Nuremberg Opera, which, however, is difficult to reach by bike due to heavy traffic. The winner of the Erlangen – Nuremberg stage was alexander kristoff.
