Enjoyable cycling around Erlangen

A varied tour with few climbs that connects the Huguenot town with the surrounding districts and its green lung. The tour leads past the city's most famous swimming lake, the Dechsendorfer Weiher, the Wiesengrund, populated by storks in spring and summer, and the Tennenloher Forest, where a wild boar enclosure and prehistoric horses invite you to explore.

From the starting point at the Tourist information through the underpass at the main station to Wiesengrund, where for the first time the Regnitz is crossed. About the district Alterlangen The tour leads through forests to the local recreation area at Dechsendorfer Pond. Here you can take a short swim. Through the Mönau forest area, where a detour to the Celtic grave “Kosbach Altar” worthwhile, we continue along the borders of the Aischgrund Carp Land to historic Frauenaurach. Traces of a former convent can still be seen here. From there, the route continues across the wide fields of the Kriegenbrunn and Hüttendorf districts. Here, you can enjoy a unique view to Nuremberg, which towers with its skyline on the horizon. Once again, you cross the meandering Regnitz in the south and drive over Eltersdorf to Tennenlohe, where a forest adventure center is located and Przewalski's wild horses invite you to stop for a rest in the countryside. About the nature reserve Brucker Lache the path continues to Nature reserve Exerzierplatz, which, with its sandy soil, represents a special biotope. Finally, the route follows the idyllic Schwabach at the foot of the historic castle hill, where from spring to late summer there is a lot of activity on the Bierkeller prevails.

Refreshment tips: Entlas Keller (Erlangen), Steinbach Bräu (Erlangen), Krapp "Drei Linden" (Erlangen), Forsthaus Dechsendorf (Erlangen-Dechsendorf), Fischerei Oberle (Erlangen-Kosbach)
