Cycling to the castle, game reserves and the Indian Gorge

Mysterious forests, the Nuremberg Knoblauchsland (garlic country), Neunhof Castle, the game reserve, and the Indian Gorge are just a few of the highlights of this bike tour. You'll also have the opportunity to learn a little about the local fish life on the fish trail at Lake Sklavensee.

 

Starting at the Tourist Information, the tour goes through the city center to the south of Erlangen. From there, the route leads through the Protected forest Brucker Lache, past two playgrounds in the forest to Tennenlohe. The Tennenlohe Forest Adventure Center with its themed houses, the forestry history trail and the nature trail is always worth a visit. Along the fields of the Nuremberg Garlic Country Now we continue to Neunhof Castle, which, with its associated gardens, is a popular tourist destination in the region. Passing a game reserve with fallow deer, the route leads through the forest to KalcreuthThe climb is rewarded at the end of Kalchreuth with a panoramic view of the Franconian Switzerland. There is also the “Kalchreuth Cherry Orchard”, which is especially inviting for a short stop in spring and summer. The descent continues to the plain. Here, a detour to the Slave Lake, also known as Grubweiher, which has a Fish educational trail about the local fish life. The tour now continues on wide gravel roads through the forest back to Erlangen. Short stops at the Indian Canyon – a “gorge” (length 150m, depth up to 10m) of the Muckenbach, which leads through the geological layer of the Upper Burgsandstein - and at Wild boar enclosureFrom there, the path leads through the city center back to the tourist information office.
