The central square of the old town was also the center of beer production, with three breweries on the west side, as well as Niklas Bräu to the north and the Ott Brewery to the east. The sign "NS3" on the facade of house no. 1707, featuring a mash log and malt shovel, still indicates Nikolaus Schad's brewing rights. From 1788 onwards, the Stahl family owned the brewery for about 80 years, until the small brewery ceased production in the mid-1870s. The Windisch family brewed beer at the neighboring property no. 4 at the end of the 17th century, followed by the Vierzigmann family from 1760 to 1865. Zephanias Fischer took over the brewery and continued to operate it until 1902. The business in house no. 5 and the rear buildings was purchased by Christian Ulrich Tauber in 1866. He and his successor, Johann Ammon (1902–1911), brewed primarily for the local market. The former Burgbergkeller is now Entla's Keller, and the medieval house cellar is available for events thanks to the Maret-Huskinson family.
