This was probably around 1400, but did not completely enclose the old town. The city wall was severely damaged during the Second Margrave War, the Thirty Years' War, and the city fire of 1706. Between 1708 and 1780, the new town and the parts of the old town not yet enclosed were rebuilt.
Saugraben
The last remaining part of the medieval city wall is located on the northern Stadtmauerstraße.
