After the castle fire on 14 January 1814, the palace served as the retirement home of Margravine Sophie Caroline Marie until 1817. Between 1836 and 1971, the building was used as Town hall used. Palais Stutterheim Erlangen
The building was built between 1728 and 30 according to designs by Wenzel Perner for district administrator Christian Hieronymus von Stutterheim.
