Nürnberg

When one thinks of the neighboring city of Nuremberg, some think of Albrecht Dürer or the Imperial Castle, while others think of the Christmas market, gingerbread, and bratwurst. But the city has much more to offer: surrounded by the historic city walls, the Old Town offers a fascinating mix of historic buildings, contemporary architecture, and small green oases. A diverse museum landscape, numerous shopping opportunities, and culinary offerings perfectly round out a visit to Nuremberg. In summer, numerous open-air events draw visitors outdoors.

The city's responsibility for its own past is impressively demonstrated at the Documentation Center Nazi Party Rally Grounds, which illustrates the causes, contexts, and consequences of Nazi rule. In the Nuremberg Trials Memorial, visitors can learn about the Nuremberg Trials in the permanent exhibition, alongside the famous Room 600.
