Designed by Wenzel Perner, the Neustadt Church Built between 1725 and 1737 for the growing number of Protestant-Lutheran immigrants. Church tower is the highest in Erlangen (60 m). Worth seeing are the Ceiling frescoes by Christian and Karl Georg Leinberger (1734–35), the magnificent Pulpit altar and Altar painting. In the basement is the crypt of the Erlangen Margravine Sophie Caroline MarieNumerous noblemen are also buried here. Since 1837, the church has also served as University Church.
