In the middle of the 18th century, this building was built by Joachim Christoph Herr in baroque style From 1817 onwards it served the Loewenich family as a residential building and for tobacco manufacturing. It was family-owned until 1941. Today it houses the Art museum.

The exhibition program of the Art Museum of the City of Erlangen includes regional art after 1945The focus is primarily on the work of artists from Erlangen and the Nuremberg metropolitan region. Solo, group, thematic, and commemorative exhibitions are presented, as well as photography and art from regional collectors.

The Exhibitions in the Erlangen Art Museum change regularly, so there is something new to discover on every visit.
