The foothills of the Franconian Alb foothills are 332 meters high. The castle that gave it its name, despite being mentioned several times in the 15th century, has not yet been identified. Its sandstone was quarried as early as 1400. The southern slope was from 1675 for the installation of beer cellars Thanks to the cellar storage, Erlangen became the Pioneer city of beer exports. Since 1755, the cellars have hosted the Bergkirchweih On the northern slope of the mountain lies the Platenhäuschen, in which the poet August von Platen withdrew from time to time, as well as the Israelite cemetery.
