Travelling by rental bike in the bicycle city of Erlangen

Whether for a quick commute to work, a trip into the city center or exploring the surrounding area – the VAG_Rad rental system is now also available in Erlangen.

How does the VAG_Rad system work?

With the VAG_Rad you can travel flexibly and environmentally friendly in Erlangen. Registration is easy via the NürnbergMOBIL appOnce registered, you can use the bikes at any time by scanning the QR code on the bike. The frame lock opens automatically, and you can ride!

Where can you rent the bikes?

In Erlangen, there are currently around 80 bicycles available at various locations, including:

  • Town Hall/New Market
  • arcades
  • Huguenot Square
  • Haagstraße
  • Audimax/Hindenburgstraße
  • Raspberry Palace/Mozartstraße
  • Forest Hospital
  • Main station/large parking lot
  • Sieglitzhof/Long Line
  • Siemens Campus

The number of rental stations and bicycles is continuously being expanded, so you can always find a VAG_Rad near you.

Flexzone for more flexibility

Erlangen's city center has a so-called flex zone, where bicycles can be rented and returned flexibly at any street corner. This flex zone extends from Werner-von-Siemens-Straße in the south, Schwabachanlage in the north, the large parking lot in the west, and Gebbertstraße in the east. Outside of this zone, returns are only possible at the permanently installed stations.

Prices and usage costs

Using the VAG_Rad system is straightforward and affordable. The initial fee is 10 cents per ride, and each additional minute costs 10 cents. Starting with 99 minutes, you pay a maximum of 10 euros for 24 hours. Customers with a VGN subscription receive 600 free minutes per month.
