Ideal for gravel bikers: the discovery tour around Erlangen

This diverse tour connects Erlangen with its surrounding districts and its green lung. The city's most popular swimming lake, the Wiesengrund, home to storks in spring and summer, and the Tennenloher Forest with its wild boar enclosure and prehistoric wild horses are some of the highlights along the route.


The tour leads through the underpass at the main station from the starting point at the Tourist information Direction The ground floorHere, the river Regnitz is crossed for the first time. In the district of Alterlangen, the route continues through forests to Dechsendorfer Weiher local recreation area, where you can cool off in the pond. In the Mönau forest area, a short detour to the Celtic grave is worthwhile. “Kosbach Altar”The tour continues along the borders of the Aischgrund Carp Country to Frauenaurach, where traces of a former convent can still be seen today. The route then continues across fields through the districts of Kriegenbrunn and Hüttendorf. From here, a unique view all the way to Nuremberg awaits.
Once again, you cross the Regnitz in the south and drive via Eltersdorf to Tennenlohe. Here, it is worth stopping at the sculpture parkbefore crossing the bridge over the B4. The tour continues on a gravel path past the enclosure of the Przewalski's wild horses through the Tennenloher Forest to Buckenhof. Along the Schwabach river, the route continues through the Sieglitzhof district into the Erlangen MeilwaldFinally, the tour follows the idyllic Schwachbach past the Aroma garden of the Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and along the foot of the historic castle hill. From spring to late summer, there is a lively activity on the Bierkeller.
