International Figure Theatre Festival. Erlangen Nuremberg Fürth Schwabach

The international figuren.theater.festival takes place every two years in Erlangen, Nuremberg, Fürth, and Schwabach. Productions of contemporary puppet, picture, and object theater are presented in up to 200 performances at many different venues. Puppet theater is one of the oldest and most fascinating performing arts.

The biennial festival has been held in the urban region since 1979. Four cities now participate in this cultural highlight. In addition to Erlangen and Nuremberg (1981), Fürth joined in 1983, and Schwabach in 1989. For ten days in May and June, the event attracts over 20.000 visitors. Companies travel from a wide variety of countries and offer a full range of performing arts experiences. The venues are spread across the city centers and districts. Unusual productions and interventions in public spaces promise a cultural spectacle of a unique kind.
