Every year at Christmas time you can do your pirouettes in the middle of the market square, because on the 400 m² ice surface Both young and old are sure to get their money's worth. Thousands of ice sports enthusiasts from across the region take advantage of this unique opportunity every year: Ice skating in the middle of Erlangen is and remains a highlight!

Instead of using a conventional ice surface as before, we have been using a plastic alternative from LIKE-ICE-Science GmbH since 2022. This way, we want to enable all children and young people to have fun in the winter, despite the energy crisis. The surface consists of special, patented plastic plates. You can skate on these surfaces in the same way as on real ice.

The advantage is that LIKE-ICE without cooling therefore no electricity and also no water required. The area is reusable, in principle recyclable, operational CO2 neutral and also in production the CO2 emissions 100% offset. In addition, we also rely on 100% green electricity from Erlanger Stadtwerke.
