Erlangen: official stage location of the Deutschland Tour 2021

Germany's largest cycling event came to Erlangen for a weekend (August 28-29) and offered a sporting event the likes of which the city hasn't seen in decades. The highlight was Saturday, when the professional teams reached Erlangen in the afternoon and crossed the finish line for the first time at 16:30 p.m. But Sunday was also exciting. All riders signed up together on stage for the final stage and set off around midday for the final leg to the destination of Nuremberg.

Saturday, August 28 (Museum Corner)

The pros reached the finish line in the Museumswinkel for the first time at around 16:30 p.m., and the final sprint was at the same location at around 16:50 p.m. But along with the pros, the entire Deutschland Tour caravan also arrived in the Huguenot city, so all cycling fans got their money's worth before the official pro race:

11:45 - 17:00: Expo Tour

The Germany's largest mobile bicycle trade fair accompanied the tour and invited visitors to explore on Saturday. In addition to the cycling industry, sponsors, and world-renowned manufacturers, German tourism regions also presented themselves to visitors. The expo in the finish area opened hours before the pros crossed the finish line. Admission to the site and the numerous hands-on activities were free.

11:45 a.m. - 13:00 p.m.: Newcomer Tour

Talents were also in demand here. The focus of the Newcomer Tour was talent promotion, where the BDR, the German Cycling Federation, offers young German and international cyclists a platform to showcase themselves to a broad audience. Erlangen residents were treated to top-class cycling starting Saturday afternoon.

13:15 - 14:15 pm: Ride Tour

Ride like the pros, but not against each other, but with each other, on the Ride Tour all participants on the official race track through Erlangen's city center. There's no winner, and no obligation as to which bike you compete on. Whether you're riding a road bike, mountain bike, recumbent bike, e-bike, or self-built bike – the Ride Tour was a fun experience, and the official route was open to everyone!

14:45 - 15:45 pm: Mini Tour

Children and young peopleChildren between the ages of two and twelve were invited to test their skills on the various learning courses in the bicycle adventure world. For all children between the ages of two and five, there was a balance bike race, in which the last meters of the finish straight The highlight was the big bike parade, where all age groups up to twelve years old were cheered on like cycling pros.

16:35 p.m.: First crossing of the finish line

16:50 p.m.: Final finish

Nils Politt of Team Bora-hansgrohe took the day's victory of the 3rd stage in the sprint to the finish at Museumswinkel.

17:00 p.m.: Award ceremony

Naturally, the day's winner, Nils Politt, who also wore the red jersey of the overall leader, was duly honored. The trophy was presented by Mayor Dr. Florian Jaik (left) and Bavarian Minister of the Interior Joachim Herrmann (right).

Sunday, August 29 (Erlangen Castle Square)

12:00 - 13:05: Driver registration

The official rider registration took place at noon for the start of the final stage to Nuremberg. The audience had the unique opportunity to see all the teams on the large Deutschland Tour stage at Erlangen's Schlossplatz.

13:15 p.m.: Neutralized start of the final stage

The racing cyclists started directly on the main street between Schlossplatz and Marktplatz. The organizing committee, from left to right: Ulrich Klement, Head of the Office for Sports and Health Promotion; Christian Frank, Board Member of City Management; Dr. Florian Janik, Mayor of the City of Erlangen; and Jörg Volleth, Deputy Mayor of the City of Erlangen, had the honor of opening the starting area.

28.08.2021: Siemens MedMuseum (Museum Corner)

The Siemens MedMuseum was open throughout the event and free of charge.

23.08/08.09.2021 – September XNUMXth, XNUMX: “Fun Track” (Neustadt Church Square)

The course is for young and old. Whether by bike, scooter, or skateboard..., the perfect backdrop of Neustadt's church square made it a real pleasure to try out the fun track for free.

28.08.2021: Schirmer Bicycle Corner (Castle Square)

Even more bicycles were on offer at Erlangen’s Schlossplatz:

  • Bicycle show with highlights and innovations from the three categories: road bikes, mountain bikes, and gravel bikes – each as e-bikes and conventional bikes. New bikes for the 3/2021 season and sports accessories were on display.
  • Possibility to test virtual training on the bike simulator.
  • Performance diagnostics for sports health and training optimization in cooperation with iQ-Move, the Erlangen Institute for Sports and Exercise Medicine.
  • Tasting of special sports drinks and energy bars for before, during and after exercise.
  • Helium balloons for the little CYCLISTS.

28.08.2021: Bicycle trade fair "Cycling and Movement" (Bohlenplatz)

Local and regional exhibitors presented the latest trends and opportunities for participation in Erlangen. The Erlangen Tourist Information Center's information point was also located here, offering information on the Deutschland Tour event days, among other things.
