Erlangen city center open on April 12, 2026 from 13 p.m. to 18 p.m.

On Sunday, April 12, 2026, Erlangen's open Sunday shopping event offers the opportunity for a relaxed stroll through the city, enjoying the springtime atmosphere. From 13:00 p.m. to 18:00 p.m., numerous shops will open their doors, combining the last day of the Easter holidays with a varied city visit. The Erlangen City Management Association encourages all businesses to participate in this special day with promotional activities.

To mark the Erlangen Spring Festival, visitors to the city center can expect a diverse program with activities, hands-on experiences, culinary offerings, and attractions for the whole family. All shops along Nürnberger Straße and Hauptstraße, between Werner-von-Siemens-Straße and Martin-Luther-Platz, and between Goethe-/Nägelsbachstraße and Bohlenplatz are permitted to open.

“Sunday shopping enriches our city center and offers an ideal opportunity to experience the full diversity of our shops, including the colorful supporting program. We therefore cordially invite all shops to participate and actively shape this day together with their own promotions and open doors,” says Christian Frank, board member of the City Management.

The Spring Festival at the Castle Square The area itself offers a fairground atmosphere. Stalls with sweet and savory specialties invite visitors to indulge across more than 2.000 square meters. In addition, there are classic fairground attractions such as a swing boat, a children's carousel, a puppet show, face painting, and other rides and games for children. A beer garden with live music also provides an opportunity to take a break and enjoy the lively spring atmosphere.

There's also plenty on offer in many places in the city center on Sunday when shops are open:

Auf dem Bohlenplatz Several food trucks create a street food atmosphere. The offerings range from burgers and burritos to specialty coffees, sweet and savory crêpes, and reinterpretations of Franconian specialties.

The Neustadt Church Square This event is especially interesting for families and active people: A large fun track invites everyone to try things out and let loose. Children and teenagers can test their agility, balance, and coordination here. A photo point will also be set up on the grounds, inviting visitors to take a souvenir photo before the event. The fun track will be set up from April 9th to 15th.

Auf dem Marketplace Auto Kraus presents its latest models and invites visitors to an open-air car exhibition.

Also the Huguenot Square The event offers numerous activities: Various organizations and institutions will be providing information about their work at their booths, while interactive activities and prize draws will provide entertainment. Visitors can, among other things, try their luck at a wheel of fortune, learn about sports opportunities, or experience fire engines up close.

In the Nuremberg Street and Hauptstraße It also comes alive with activity. Clubs and organizations provide a diverse program with information booths, interactive activities, and culinary offerings. Martial arts demonstrations and hands-on activities, where children and adults can participate, are a particular highlight.

Am Beşiktaş Square Another car exhibition by Auto Kropf rounds off the program.

Many shops participate in this event day with open doors and their own promotions and offers.
